My Cooking Buddy is here!

What a great time we had last night!  My cooking buddy (and oldest son) Ben, is here.  Although we pretty much reversed roles this time, it was great fun to be together in the kitchen.  We both love to cook, so many memories and wonderful times have been had in our kitchen.  Since he's been back from Europe I've even been able to try out his new Wusthof knives.  I think he'll probably be posting photos soon on his Xanga, along with lots of cool and unusual photos from all over Europe.

We stir fried everything we could find, and had a blast eating dinner together...

Hope everyone is having a great beginning of school!

Blessings,
Sheri

Have your children already started school???? WOW - we don't start up here in Canada until after Labour Day.

RYC - physiology is the study of the normal functioning of the cells, tissues and organs of the body. This is opposed to pathology which is the study of the processes of disease and improper functioning of the same...hope that makes sense.

Glad to know that you and your son are such good buddies! My friends often complain that their kids don't talk to them much when they become teenagers.

You're such beautiful mother and son.

Blessings!

RYC: It was supposed to be funny, but on further inspection (and with all the problems they've had in the past) it could actually be somewhat serious...

Hi Sheri,

I've seen you stop by many times and wondered why you never said anything. LOL
Anyway, got your invite and accepted. :)

I don't quite understand the 'friends' aspect of Xanga. How is that beneficial as opposed to subbing, any idea? :) I haven't used it yet.

Hi Sheri, thanks for the visit and comment. Judi of Jasmine is helping me be more grateful--She has a great Xanga site.  I love family photos in Xanga--I wish I had spent more of my time at home instead of the office.

Saw that you visited my site, so I came by to see yours!!  mmmmmmmmmm love the food pics, and kid pics too.  The son we lost loved to cook, so it was refreshement to my soul to read about you and yours cooking together.   Brian especially made great cheesecake, that was one of his faves.  He watched the food network when he was up late..... at age 18, tall and lanky......... ate most anything, ate well, but his metabolism kept him pretty thin all his life, it was as he was nearing 19 that he finally began to fill out.  I wonder what he'd look like at age 25 now........ and what we'd be cooking!!  Our surviving son is a choosy texture challenged eater..... hubby is fussy, so my fun with food years ended when Brian was killed.  I can vicariously enjoy it again on your site!!!  Enjoy every moment, extra!!!   Be blessed, Deb

I bought each of the kids their own planners. My daughter, Veronica, is in college and has lots of activites and schoolwork, so I'm sure you can imagine why it helps her to have one. I have her add in her chores here at home as well.

I got an identical one for my son, 11, even though it's not really needed. It's just a motivation and reminder to stay on track.

I also have a big planner for myself, as I am seeming to forget a lot more things lately.

What has really helped is that I got an additional planner that is quite big and devotes a half page to each day. In this I daily write down anything of pertinence from the kids' planners - their schedule and especially their household chores. This one I leave out on the table and require them to cross off each chore they've accomplished. Then all I have to do is walk by and see whether they are on the ball, or need a prod. They seem to like crossing things off and knowing they are not falling behind.

RYC: I'll just go up to people at work and ask them YES or NO?? Because there's something weighing on my mind or there's a decision I have to make - whatever they answer - well that's what I'll do. It's better than flipping a coin and people ask me afterwards about the end result. So people have learned to speak carefully and thoughtfully around me.

RYC2: Double-double = a coffee with double cream and double sugar. It's a Canadian thing. We love Tim Horton's and the Second Cup. We're not big fans of Starbucks although there are about a million of them up here. Wish that we had Peet's coffee. Now that was some good coffee. Miss the Jamba Juice.
