Food Trivia

Here is an interesting bit of food trivia.  On his recent trip to Europe, my son Ben ate at Pasty Presto in Bath.  Of course he brought me the wrapper, knowing I love learning things like this.  So here is the wrapper.  On back it tells the code of markings on the pasties.  He said the code was first used for the coal miners, and the crust was a neat little handle to hold with grimy hands while eating down in the shafts.  Anybody have any more facts about these great little foods?  I must say, my grandmother made these for me many years ago...mmmmmm!

Blessings to all,
Sheri

Neat!  I love things like that that!

Ryc: Thank you so much for finding that article for me!  I really enjoyed it and passed it on to a few others as well.  I know some "genuine" artists who are trying to make a living in the art world as a Christian.  I know it's hard for them in the Christian realm at times since they are a bit unconventional, it's important to remember that their ways are not bad, just different!   They have so much to offer though and such unique ways of viewing the world.

Also, I have really enjoyed the book (which I checked out from the library)!  I love making a beautiful table and also I was teaching that subject at our "Vessels of Honor" meeting this week.  It has some wonderful ideas inside, but my favorite thing to do is just to make good use of what I already have.  Pretty plants and vines from the yard, tea lights in clear tea cups, etc.  To me, it's such a fun way to bless your family and make them feel special.    I know you had mentioned playing cultural music, I was going to say we love doing that too (also when we remember!).   Blessings!  ~Marianna

Thank you for the comment! I had about four people challenge me in my faith for the post. I got blocked from one person's site for varous reasons and the other three I didn't hear back from. So, thank you for your encouragement!!!

I will go look on his site, when I get some more time. Thanks for the suggestion! Science projects are always fun!

We're going to have to train Sophie(the dog) ALOT of things. She runs through flowerbeds, chases chickens, the whole nine yards. LOL But besides that she is really great!! Pretty cute too. : )

Nice to hear from you, Mrs. Sherri!!

Thanks for stopping by and looking at the Rwanda pictures. They are from my first short term mission trip. I'm having a good time writing about it and reliving it. I like your photos too. Very rich.

I wasn't familiar with Edith Schaeffer, but after looking her up, I feel it is a compliment!  I liked the looks of her book on homemaking so much that I promptly ordered it from Amazon.  I can't wait to get it!  Thanks for the recommendation, in a round about way!   Hope you're enjoying your Labor Day!  ~Marianna

Hi there!  Thanks so much for the sub and the add!  ... not to mention the comment!  That's awesome that you were able to get first hand teaching from Last Days Ministries!  Wow!  What a blessing and an inspiration!

This post is making me hungry!  (hungrier than I already am... :  )  But it is very interesting!

Have a great evening!

Looks really interesting.

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you about the obento items you are seeking.  You are correct in that missionaries are busy.  Summer vacation has been busy, for a vacation.  We are in the midst of some upheavals too, so I have been very distracted lately.  I am still trying decide what to do about your message.  Everytime I am in a store and see obento items, I think of you.  I hope that some kind person has been able to help you.
